Privacy Policy
CalmBudget is made by J&A Stores LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the CalmBudget mobile app collects, why, and what control you have. The short version: your budget lives on your phone, we never connect to your bank, we do not sell anything, and we do not track you.
What we collect
Budget data (stays on your device)
Your categories, budgets, expenses, notes and recurring bills are stored locally on your device. We cannot see any of it unless you turn on cloud backup.
We never connect to your bank
CalmBudget has no bank linking. We do not ask for, receive, or store banking credentials, account numbers, card numbers, or transaction feeds. There is no third-party aggregator involved. You enter spending yourself.
Cloud backup (optional, off by default)
If you choose to sign in and enable cloud backup, we store a copy of your categories, expenses and recurring bills in Google Firebase so you can restore them on a new device. Signing in also stores your email address and an account identifier. You can delete all of it at any time from Settings, or via the account deletion page.
AI quick-add
If you use the "just type it" feature, the text you type (for example "coffee 6.50, gas 40") is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to be turned into expense entries, and the result comes straight back to your device. Only that text is sent — not your budgets, balances, history, or identity. It is used to answer that one request and not to train models. If you never use the feature, nothing is ever sent.
Purchases
If you subscribe to CalmBudget Pro, the purchase is processed by Apple or Google. We never see or receive your payment details. We use RevenueCat to check whether your subscription is active; RevenueCat receives a purchase identifier and an anonymous app-install identifier.
What we do not collect
No advertising identifiers, no location, no contacts, no photos, no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. CalmBudget shows no ads. We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with data brokers, and we do not use your data for advertising.
Service providers
We rely on a small number of processors that may handle data on our behalf: Google Firebase (authentication and backup storage), Anthropic (AI quick-add parsing), RevenueCat (subscription status), and Apple's App Store / Google Play (payments and app delivery). Each handles data under its own privacy terms.
How long we keep it
Local budget data stays until you delete the app or clear it in the app. Cloud backup data is retained until you delete your account, after which it is removed from our Firebase project.
Your rights
You can access your data in the app at any time, keep it entirely off our servers by simply not enabling backup, and delete everything through Settings → Delete account & data, or by writing to us. If you are in the EEA or UK, you have rights of access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability and objection under the GDPR; if you are in California, you have rights of access and deletion under the CCPA, and we do not sell personal information. To exercise any of these, email us and we will respond within 30 days.
Children
CalmBudget is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, note it in the app.
